ISLANDERS GO UP 3-0 IN TRIPLE OVERTIME
CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI, March 2, 2010 - Alex Gallant scored the game winner
at 9:12 of the third overtime period Tuesday night to give the
Charlottetown Marks Work Wearhouse Islanders a 4-3 victory over the
Cornwall Superior Thunder in PEI Major Midget playoff action at the
MacLauchlan Arena in Charlottetown. The Islanders now lead the series
three games to none.
This was the third game in the series
decided by one goal and the second one decided in more than one
overtime period. The Islanders won the first game 3-2 and the second
7-6 in double overtime.
Game four of the best of seven series is slated for Saturday ay 4:30pm at the APM Centre in Cornwall.
Cody Coffin, Craig MacLauchlan and J C Dawson scored the other
goals for Charlottetown. Assists were contributed to Carson Trainor.
Cleve McNeill. Harrison Wood, Coffin, MacLauchlan and Brad MacKenzie.
Evan Carmody, Stefan Lapierrie and Drew Coulson scored for Cornwall. Assists were supplied by Issac Jay and Evan Carmody.
Stephen Miller recorded the win making 41 saves including 19 in
overtime. Chris Gallant made 46 saves in a losing effort including 22
in overtime.
